Berkeley kicks off $6 billion campaign

Hundreds gather for momentous celebration

On February 29, 2020, nearly 350 generous supporters gathered at California Memorial Stadium to celebrate the launch of Light the Way: The Campaign for Berkeley. Guests enjoyed a program emceed by comedian Maz Jobrani ’93 featuring high-energy faculty presentations on health, the environment, data science and artificial intelligence, and democracy and equality; surprise announcements on major gifts supporting data science and the College of Natural Resources; photo opportunities with Berkeley Nobel laureates and Olympians; and student entertainment, including mariachi, jazz, cello, a capella singing, and the Cal Band and UC Rally Committee.
