During my time at UC Berkeley, I had the pleasure of being a member of Cal’s all female a capella group, the California Golden Overtones. My fellow singers were aspiring engineers, chemists, linguists, politicians … the list goes on. Despite our diverse academic interests and backgrounds, we had one thing in common: Several times a week, we paused our rigorous studies to meet in the basement of the Cesar Chavez building to make beautiful music together, using nothing but our voices.
